Overview of Australian Indigenous Health Status 2011 now available

The latest ‘Overview of Australian Indigenous health status, 2011’ is now available on the Australian Indigenous HealthInfoNet website. The Overview provides comprehensive information about Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander populations; the context of Indigenous health; various measures of population health status; selected health conditions; and health risk factors. It is an excellent teaching resource and will provide students with a detailed overview of the major health conditions affecting Indigenous Australians.

Also available is a power point presentation containing all of the graphs and charts in the Overview.  The latest version of the Overview is available on our website as a PDF to download, print or viewed as a read only version. While limited hard copy versions are printed each year, the version on the site is always the most current and is updated regularly as new information becomes available.

The continued focus of the Australian Indigenous HealthInfoNet is to help to ‘close the gap’ by providing the evidence base to inform practice and policy. The Overview is a key component of our work in adding to the knowledge and evidence base that will inform and assist those working or studying in Indigenous Australian health.   The site itself is a rich web resource that is freely accessible.

Students may also be interested in comprehensive reviews of many health topics which delve deeper into specific conditions.
