The Heart Foundation and CSANZ have released Guidelines for the prevention, detection and management of chronic heart failure in Australia. Updated July 2011. The guidelines feature updated evidence related to:
- use of B-type natriuretic peptide (BNP), including plasma-BNP or N-terminal pro-BNP measurement
- physical activity and rehabilitation
- pharmaco-therapy
- use of polyunsaturated fatty acids in treatment of systolic heart failure
- use of devices
- treatment of cardiac arrhythmias in patients
- multidisciplinary care and post-discharge management programs
